Joanna joined FAD (Fazendo A Diferenca – Making A Difference) when she was nine years old and was also sent to learn English through our English program. Around the age of 13, she began serving as a helper at FAD. She is musically gifted in singing and playing instruments and she has shared her talents with FAD over the years. What started as a young girl helping with the program, has grown into years of continued service.
Joanna still volunteers at FAD today and now leads our English program, with around 40 children enrolled. She is also continuing her own education and is expected to graduate from college next year with a degree in English.
Joanna is an example of how FAD seeks not only to support children while they are young, but also to invest in their education, develop their abilities, and encourage them to become leaders who give back to their own community.
She wrote these words about her life at FAD:
“I know how good it feels to be a FAD kid/teen. I was the happiest and most blessed child in the world… My adolescence was a blessing in this place! And now being able to share with others what I experienced so many times is priceless. What a joy!”
“They are as much ours as we are theirs. We are from the Fad; We are the FAD. FAD is family! FAD is a place of blessings and experiences! THE FAD IS OF CHRIST! AND CHRIST IS THE FAD!”
